Recipe for success: take 50 extremely motivated youngsters from 14 Moravian orphanages around Brno, mix them up in ten teams of five, add a few of the best known Czech TV personalities and stars as team captains and then let them have fun together in a highly charged bowling competition at Planet Bowling in the Olympia Shopping Center.

The atmosphere was truly charged when the long anticipated bowling competition finally got underway. The event marked the second time TV Nova and Chance 4 Children (C4C) cooperated for the benefit of socially disadvantaged children. Part of Chance 4 Children’s SPRINGBOARD TO LIFE initiative, and realized in cooperation with the VODAFONE FOUNDATION CR, the Bowling Cup aims to integrate institutionalized youngsters into society and motivate them to have goals in life. Adding TV personalities and stars into the mix, most from humble backgrounds themselves, helped the kids to realize that anyone willing to work hard at it, can make it and succeed in life.

Much coveted prizes, good food and beverages, supplied with the venue itself on a complimentary basis by the management of Planet Bowling, all made for an unforgettable day for the participating children. “Sometimes is not too bad living in an orphanage,“ grins Rudolf (18), who obviously enjoyed himself tremendously, “not everyone gets to go bowling with their TV and Superstar idols, right?“

Even the teachers accompanying their respective teams were impressed and some seemed even a little awestruck by the impressive line up of stars and TV greats. Comments Mr. Novosad of the Olomouc team: “This bowling tournament really exceeded all of my expectations. Great job, C4C!“

The TV Nova team seemed inspired and motivated themselves. “It’s great to be here and interact with these kids and watch them have so much fun,“ comments Pavel Poulicek, TV Nova’s popular sports commentator. “They are a great bunch and not shy at all. The C4C team did a marvelous job putting it all together.“ Besides Pavel, also TV Nova greats like Pavla Charvátová, Michaela Dolinová, Karla Mráčková, Eva Chaloupková, Alexandr Minajev, Petr Bělík, Michal Sochor and Superstar Aleš Burket were heading up teams.

The Lord Mayor of Brno, Roman Onderka, came as well to give his support to the event. “I appreciate the efforts of C4C and TV Nova, joining forces for the benefit of institutionalized children here in Moravia“, he said in a brief address to the crowd. “Especially C4C’s motto ‘Every Child Deserves a Chance’ is worth pondering. I’d like to even expand on it by stating that ‘Everyone Deserves a Chance‘!“ We couldn’t agree more!

And as the day drew to an end, friendships were built here in Brno between the stars and young folks and pledges to stay in touch are firmly in place. The children returned to their homes reassured in the belief that indeed someone cared for them and that even TV Stars are just normal people.

We here at C4C would like to take the opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to the Nova TV team for their participation and for traveling the considerable distance down to Brno, sacrificing their weekend, to add a little joy and lots of fun and excitement to the life of children growing up without parental love and care. A big and sincere "Thank You" also to popular actress Alena Antalova and her husband Josef Juracek, who both came to help out with the event! Altogether, it was a day that will long be remembered by kids and stars alike.
