TV Nova & C4C's 5th Anniversary!

Celebrating 5 years of cooperation for the benefit of children less fortunate than others!

Children’s smiles galore, shiny eyes and excited, red cheeks, but mostly lots of excitement and joy – that’s the way things were going on Saturday the 20th of March at the trendy Planet Bowling venue in Brno.

For the 5th consecutive time, C4C organized this popular bowling event with some of the most famous personalities from TV Nova, arguably the nations most watched TV station. 54 children from 13 orphanages in the Moravian region had the unique opportunity to compete in a bowling tournament side by side with their favourite actor or TV moderators.

This time around, TV Nova lined-up the following team leaders: Karel Voříšek (senior news anchor), Dana Morávková (actress, TV series “Ordinace v ruzove zahrade”), Petr Rychlý (actor, same series), Pavel Svoboda (anchor, Breakfast with TV Nova) and many other big names from the popular TV station.

To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the event, the afternoon started somewhat untraditionally with the cutting of the special anniversary cake, symbolizing half a decade of cooperation between C4C and TV Nova. The honour of cutting the cake was bestowed upon Karel Voříšek, who claimed well-earned seniority by having participated in the bowling tournament for the third consecutive time. “I almost forgot how many times I’ve been here, because I usually don’t count the good times. Aside from the exciting action, we all take home the same moving experiences: we meet kids we didn't know at first, then we get to know them and in the end we have a hard time to part with them!” This is how the star of the TV Nova evening news expressed his feelings about the afternoon.

Zuzana Svatkova, TV Nova’s PR manager, is convinced that the fruitful cooperation with C4C and the orphans will successfully continue for years to come: “The Nova Foundation, including the whole board of the Foundation, really likes the work and impression of Chance 4 Children. It is meaningful. Working with C4C guarantees clear results in the specific projects we engage in together. They are successful and we know that they are of good quality.”

After a heated competition and fierce bowling matches, the first place was won by Petr Rychlý and his team. As it turned out, he expected success right from the start... But in reality, in the end, everyone was a winner. “Through events like these the children are learning that dreams can be realized through effort and diligence”, reflects Vaclav Cermak, C4C’s project coordinator and event manager. According to Vaclav, this is the most important aspect of competitions like these.

“Some children, upon exiting their respective institutions, feel a fair measure of self-pity which is later re-enforced by society around them. But this is actually not helpful for their successful integration into society. Children need to be motivated and learn how to solve problems. By personally interacting with their idols and stars they realize that most of them were also not born with a silver spoon in their mouth and had to work hard to achieve success in life”,  the organizer further described the purpose of the event.

Even the stars were taking some non-traditional experiences home with them and all agreed that they would like to participate in next year’s event as well. Kristýna Maléřová, who plays the main character in the seemingly never ending TV series “Ulice”, expressed her feelings and emotions as follows: “It’s a great satisfaction to see so many kids and all of them so very excited. I myself really enjoyed this event and would be more than happy to participate in others to come. To me, the purpose of it all is that the children can learn how to work in teamwork, which is of great importance in life - especially for these special children.”

And as the event drew to a close, yielding the bowling lanes back to their regular clientele, Martin Kadlec, general manager of Planet Bowling, reflects on the tournaments he sponsors year after year on a complimentary basis for C4C and TV Nova: “Working with C4C on these tournaments, which mean so much to the participating children, has been very rewarding for me personally. One learns that we truly never lose by giving!”

Well said, Martin, and thank you for caring!
