Long awaited ROBIN HOOD Bosnia trip gets finally underway!

After much planning the ROBIN HOOD team will finally leave on Monday the 19th of March 2007 on a much anticipated one week humanitarian aid trip to Bosnia Herzegovina. The trip, originally slated for the 10th of March, already got once delayed because of customs issues.

Making use of a truck, kindly donated for the occasion by Karel Kopecky of IVECO Strojservis in Horni Pocernice, the team is setting out to deliver 5 tons worth of new clothing and school supplies for children to all 9 orphanages in Bosnia. The Kopecky family as been supporting Chance 4 Children (C4C) in their efforts for over 10 years now.

A bid to boost living conditions in Bosnia’s institutions with resident children, the shipment is valued at app. 358.000 Euro (10 million CZK). This occasion is marking the first time that Chance 4 Children is venturing out to render aid to Bosnia Herzegovina. En route the team will stop over at the Ceske Budejovice Caritas chapter, co-sponsor of the trip, to deliver part of the goods to needy children and institutions in this southern Czech area. “We’re really hoping to make a difference for the children and institutions alike in Bosnia, with this huge amount of quality new clothing“, says Vasek Cermak, C4C’s project coordinator. “The savings to the institutions are substantial and will help the homes in this poor country to invest into the infrastructure of their buildings and educational and vocational programs for the children they care for.“

C4C is looking back on many years of successful cooperation with the Czech Caritas organization. In 2005 the C4C team earmarked and delivered 23 tons of food for distribution among the needy cared for by Caritas in the Czech Republic.
