News & Media Newsbox 09.05.2007 Good News from Sarajevo!  An age old adage says - “no news is good news”. While this certainly holds true most of the time, the following may be the proverbial exception to the rule. In response to C4C’s humanitarian trip to Bosnia last month, delivering almost 10 million CZK (US$ 485.000,-) worth of aid to struggling orphanages there, we received the following letter today from the Czech Ambassador to Bosnia & Herzegovina, Jiři Kuděla: Velvyslanectví České republiky, Sarajevo Franjevačka 1971 000 Sarajevo Bosna a Hercegovina Tel.: (+387 33) 447 525, 446 966 Fax: (+387 33) 447 526 Http://www.mzv.cz/sarajevo Chance for Children (C4C) We’ve gotten in touch with the Chance 4 Children organization just before their trip to Bosnia & Herzegovina, in March 2007, when our office offered them counsel of consular nature, passed on contacts to several Bosnia & Herzegovina’s orphanages and shared other pertinent information with them. After this, Chance 4 Children brought to Bosnia & Herzegovina a five ton shipment with a value of nearly 10 million CZK (US$ 485.000,-), containing clothing & school supplies for socially disadvantaged families and orphanages. The distribution of the humanitarian aid to the various orphanages was accompanied by theatrical performances, which Chance 4 Children prepared together with a clown from a Bosnian NGO – “Srdce plne smichu”. This project was the most significant humanitarian contribution of the Czech Republic to post war Bosnia & Herzegovina in the last five years! For Chance 4 Children their work is far from finished. Their goal is to establish long-term cooperation between Czech and B&H orphanages. For this purpose, they’ve initiated several meetings, with mostly positive reaction. The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bosnia & Herzegovina considers the projects of Chance 4 Children aimed at aiding orphanages in B&H an excellent example of promoting the Czech Republic in this country. The necessity of which, not only from the point of view of orphans in B&H & the Czech Republic, but also in terms of all-society, is unquestionable. I have the honor to request all potential partners, that Chance 4 Children will contact, to be obliging, generous & to show good will.
