Hairstyles, Beauty Queens and a Chance for a Decent Job!

Participants of C4C Springboard to Life (STL) Program get hands on training with Czech Miss World 2011, Denisa Domanska and two runner-ups of the Miss Czech Republic contest!

Of all the vocational classes C4C’s conducts in orphanages around the country, one seems to resonate like no other with girls (and the occasional guy…): THE HAIRSTYLING CLASSES! But if you add real life Czech beauty queens into this mix it seems that things can get exciting quickly…

For this particular occasion, the three Beauty Queens came to show their support for C4C educational initiative and to inspire the participants to give it their all and best and pursue their dreams.

Going into its 5th year, C4C hairstyling lessons enjoy unprecedented popularity amongst girls living in state institutions around Prague. Once or twice a week the participants meet at the Students Hairstyling Salon (Střední Soukromé Odborné Učiliště Kadeřnické - SSOUK) in Prague, operated by František Kočka, who takes great pride in making his school available to C4C free of charge. Under the tutelage of C4C’s professional teachers Hanka Ciprová and Olga Horká, girls from local orphanages in Sázava, Pyšely, Unhošť and Dolní Počernice are learning the tricks of the trade and prepare for a career in either hairstyling or cosmetics.

"I am proud we are partnering with C4C’s hairstyling program”, comments Frantisek Kočka, owner of the school, “I feel that we can give a real opportunity to the kids who want to learn this trade. I have been in hairstyling more than 20 years and I know it can be a great and rewarding career”, he continues.

Thanks to the efforts of Alena (Aja) Zdvihalova, C4C’s PR and marketing manager, the program has been able to partner with professional suppliers for their immediate needs. Market leaders like L´Oréal and Puls s.r.o have taken a keen interest in the initiative and have shown themselves very generous and supportive, donating all supplies the teachers need, ranging from products like hair colors, shampoos and conditioners to scissors, hairdryers, etc.

“When I first heard about this educational project I right away liked it a lot”, says Monika Plachá, director of Puls. “Education is paramount and we are so very glad that we can support C4C’s vocational initiative with our quality products.”
